Hebru Brantley is about to conclude a joint double-exhibition at Tokyo’s NANZUKA gallery. To follow, the acclaimed American artist will release a new set of sculptures with Avant Arte.
Gaia is a personification of Mother Earth and good fortune. Cast in Portoro marble, the Chicago-based artist takes recognizable pop culture heroes and reintroduces them to the world in his unique Afro-Futurism aesthetic. The sculpture is made up of two separate parts — the first depicting a young girl with superhero goggles, while the corresponding piece represents a cloud that the hero is perched atop.
Standing at 24-inches high, the edition of eight will be available in black and white. Due to the character of the veining Portoro marble, each sculpture is unique. Gaia will be available to purchase via Avant Arte on November 29 at 2pm GMT.
